Deuteronomy 29:24-26

²⁴ The answer will be, “Because they have forsaken their covenant with the Lord, the God of their fathers, that he made with them when he brought them up out of the land of Egypt. ²⁵ They went off and served other gods, worshiping gods that they did not know, gods that he had not given to them. ²⁶ Therefore, the Lord’s anger raged against this land, bringing down upon it all the curses that are written in this book.
